Does the job and doesn't pretend otherwise. Bottom-third reviews at a bottom-third price. Mezcal Reviews drinkers give it 3.1/5 across 21 ratings, vs. 3.9/5 for the typical mezcal (362 rated).

Pelotón de la Muerte is an artisanal tequila (and mezcal) line produced in Jalisco, Mexico (NOM 1649) from 100% blue Weber agave, cooked in traditional brick ovens and naturally fermented in stainless steel tanks. Its unaged Blanco expression is bottled at 46% ABV and delivers cooked-agave, black pepper, citrus and mineral notes; the brand's label references the "Brigade of Death" flag carried by insurgents in the Mexican Revolution.
